General Information

Each neuropsychological evaluation is conducted entirely by our neuropsychologists. It includes an interview with the parents, a review of relevant records, and completion of behavioral questionnaires by parents and teachers.

It may also include a brief telephone interview with the child’s teacher or other therapists. The child meets with the neuropsychologist to complete 6-7 hours of testing over 2-3 sessions. This data is synthesized into a clinical formulation of the child’s neuropsychological profile within the context of knowledge about development and brain/behavior relationships. It is shared with the parents in a face-to-face conference and outlined in a detailed report of the child’s history, observation of behavior, and norm-based test performance. It also contains a diagnostic formulation and detailed recommendations. A copy of the report is provided to the parents and referring physician. The evaluation takes between 16-20 hours to complete.

• A review of relevant records (medical, previous evaluations)
• Clinical interview with the child’s parents
• An extensive Pediatric Questionnaire completed by parents
• Standardized behavioral questionnaires completed by parents and teachers
  • The Behavior Assessment System for Children – Third Edition (BASC3)
  • The Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Function-Second Edition (BRIEF2)
  • Adaptive Behavior Assessment System, Third Edition (ABAS-3)

Clinical Data are obtained from:

• Detailed observations of the child’s behavioral repertoire
• Performance on a variety of psychological tests used to sample the following domains:
  • Overall cognitive capacity
  • Language
  • Visuospatial skills
  • Verbal and non-verbal learning and memory
  • Social perception and perspective taking
  • Executive functions
  • Sensorimotor functioning
  • Academic achievement
